Eloy Jimenez As you probably know, whether and when he gets called up depends on the White Sox, a team we can presume is in no hurry, although this is a crazy game. They have essentially nothing in leftfield or centerfield – Nick Delmonico, Leury Garcia and Adam Engel. The whole lot of them won’t go for ten bucks in AL leagues and they shouldn’t. So the opportunity for Eloy is there, or will be soon. There is little doubt that he’ll hit for at least respectable average and power once he arrives, he has too much ability including opposite-field power, and even his Ks are not too bad at 20% lately in the minors. It’s not a bad move to take Jimenez as your 5th OF in a mixed league, but preferably he’s a reserve pick. I wouldn’t bid anything for him in an AL league, maybe a late buck if I had a decent bat up my sleeve to fill out, but that is taking a chance of ending up with a hole and I hate holes. A great spring might change things but for now Reserve A – like the #1 reserve pick.
