First Shot Blind – Looking at 2018 Rookies

Michael Kopech  My initial thought was that Kopech had almost no chance to make a difference in 2018, but many people I respect think he’s very close. Why the White Sox would blow a year of contract control I don’t know, unless they are contending which seems unlikely. There is also the question of whether he starts or relieves. He’s got a top shelf fastball and slider, curveball is solid-average. To me his control still needs plenty of work but his boosters point to improvement at AA-AAA. I see 4.4 BB/9 and stand my ground. Worth a late reserve pick in mixed leagues but not before Puk, Honeywell or Buehler. Reserve B in AL leagues.
